Behind the Scenes, Inside the Pipes at The Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility (AWWU)
The 8,800-foot long Eklutna water main in Alaska, supplies clean, fresh water to the majority of the Anchorage Bowl, and Thursday a group of utility workers and engineers crawled through those pipes to make sure everything is running smoothly.

Two massive water main breaks this summer showed cracks in the Louisville Water Company's aging pipe system. Now it has a new tool designed to search out and prevent breaks. Leaders hope a new tool called a PipeDiver will solve some of the problems.

PipeDiver® for Force Main Inspection Makes First Splash
The first PipeDiver project was recently completed on a fully operational prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) wastewater force main for Baltimore County Department of Public Works. The inspection was completed as part of a comprehensive assessment of a 54-inch force main that also included Pure’s SmartBall® technology.
